a notebook that i began one summer in ysleta, tejas, ept. it continues east, following the course of el río grande~bravo to El Valle and into the gulf of méxico...
Every year there's a red bird that makes a home in my back yard. I've come to wonder if it might be the same one. Yesterday, however, two were perched on the clothes line. My voice, an erupting force, startled them away, flying in different directions. I was disappointed at the fact that I couldn't admire them anymore.
i read somewhere that most cardinals, if the birds you saw are cardinals, live in close proximity to where they where born, so it might be the same bird you're seeing.
